Christmas: A Few Of My Favourite Things

Here are a few of my favourite Christmas things!

Christmas is just around the corner and this year is extra special as it will be our daughter’s first Christmas. And for our little family that will mean mixing in old traditions with the new.

Trying to figure out how we’re going to celebrate Christmas, especially as our daughter gets older and becomes a bit more aware of what going on, got me thinking about all the things I love about the holidays. So, I thought I would create a little gift guide, sharing some of my favourite things about Christmas along the way.

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!

Christmas Decorations

When you’re putting the Christmas decorations up, that’s when the magic happens. Your home is suddenly transformed into a Christmassy wonderland and your mood just lifts. Putting up the decorations is one of my favourite parts of the holidays.

It marks the start of something special and gets you in the mood to shop for presents, come up with your Christmas dinner menu, and get the festive playlist going. The best part? I get to do it with the people I love.

This year, we did it with Christmas music playing in the background and a glass of mulled wine. It was just lovely. We also made our first handmade tree decoration, with our baby girl’s handprint. Ok, it didn’t turn out great, but hopefully a little paint will help!

Check out these gorgeous handmade ornaments (they’re much better than mine!):

Christmas Movies

Who doesn’t love Christmas movies? Everyone’s got their favourites, but for me nothing says Christmas like The Sound of Music, Home Alone, and Elf. Know someone else who loves a good xmas film? How about getting them one of these:

Cozy Nights In

The holidays means cold weather, which means cozy nights in watching Christmas movies and TV, enjoying a hot chocolate, or getting stuck in a good book.

So, what to get someone who loves a cozy night in? Here are some things I would love:

Christmas Wrapping Paper

Yes, getting Christmas presents is awesome, but giving present? Even better! It can be tricky figuring out what to get everyone, but once you’ve got your presents it’s time to start wrapping. For me, that’s one of my favourite parts of the holidays.

I love getting creative with wrapping and it always helps if you have nice wrapping paper. Aren’t these Etsy ones amazing?
