Top 5 hair trends for autumn 2013

We’ve seen various hair trends this year; from super straight to messy waves, retro 60’s (think bangs and beehives) to low buns. With autumn on the way, it’s time to start thinking about how to wear your hair for the colder months. Luckily for me, the styles this autumn are easy to try and low maintanence.

Take inspiration from the catwalks for the top hair trends to try this autmn, here are my top five:

1. The low ponytail

As spotted at: Alexander Wang, Victoria Beckham, Chloe, Lanvin, Oscar de la Renta

low ponytail

I love that the low ponytail is trending as it is such an easy and low maintanence look. It’s perfect if you are running late and have not had time to do your hair, just put it in a pony and go! Keep it sleek with a polished side parting, or if you are looking for hairstyles for longer hair, keep it messy for a relaxed look at the weekend.

2. Autumn reds

As spotted at: Narciso Rodriguez, Vera Wang

redhead

The perfect shade for autumn, red might seem like a daring colour to try, but this is the best time to do it. It will also go wonderfully with your autumn wardrobe as it perfectly fits the palette.

3. Bangs!

As spotted at: Marni, Emilio Pucci, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Rag & Bone, Dries van Noten

bangs

Bangs are perfect to help create that retro hair trend which is also going strong. Its works perfectly with a modern take on the sixties beehive or a cute fifties style bob. If you are worried about whether or not they’re going to suit you, you can get faux fringes which you can clip in, or do some clever styling.

4. Gentle waves

As spotted at: Giles, Emilio Pucci, Helmut Lang, Vera Wang, Nicole Miller, Diane von Furstenberg

loose waves

Get this relaxed look by plaiting towel-dried hair and leaving it to dry overnight or brushing out loosely tonged curls, just make sure you skip the hairspray to let your hair keep a natural undone look.

5. Braids

As spotted at: Fendi, Valentino

side braid

Braids are not just for summer and spring, you can still rock ’em this autumn. For an easy look that anyone can try wear a side braid. Why not add a cute hairband for a look fit for work.

Why hairstyles will you be trying?
